Dennis Carcamo - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Friday deployed additional 120 policemen to Zamboanga City, where at least five villages are under siege by the Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF).

Chief Superintendent Edgardo Ladao, director of the Central Luzon Regional Police Office, said the policemen led by Senior Inspectors Elias Tait and Alipio Villavicencio are members of the Regional Public Safety Battalion.

Ladao said the police officers were among the best and skilled personnel who have undergone tactical and combatant training.

The additional police officers will stay in Zamboanga City until the standoff ends and the situation normalizes, Ladao added.
