Student slain at home

ANDA, Pangasinan, Philippines– A high school student was found dead with her neck slashed at her home in Barangay Awag in this city on Saturday.

Ma. Julie Carlet was found by her aunt, Arlene Carlet, whose house was about 150 meters away from the victim’s.

Arlene said she heard Julie shouting for help, prompting her to rush to the house.

She said she found her niece in a kneeling position, bloodied, and with a rope around her neck.

Case officer Senior Police Officer 4 Joseph Castrence told The STAR that the victim was an orphan who lived alone in the house.

Police expressed belief that Julie tried to resist the attacker as the house was in disarray.

Authorities refused to name the suspect pending investigation.
