LRT 1 operations partially disrupted

MANILA,Philippines - The operations of the Light Rail Transit Line 1 in Manila were temporarily disrupted due to a 'catenary wire' problem, the LRT Authority said on Monday.

LRTA spokesperson Hernando Cabrera said the line between R. Papa and Abad stations experienced a "catenary wire problem."

Cabrera said LRTA personnel were forced to stop operations after the cable burned, forcing thousands of passengers to alight from the coaches.

As of this posting the operation from Blumentritt to Monumento has not resumed.

Cabrera said trips from Baclaran to Blumentritt stations and back resumed around 10:15 a.m.
