Price freeze still on in Bataan, Pampanga

Ding Cervantes - The Philippine Star

SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga, Philippines – The government-imposed price freeze on basic commodities has remained in effect in Bataan and this province that were placed under a state of calamity during recent floods caused by monsoon rains and Tropical Storm Maring.

Department of Trade and Industry regional director Judith Angeles said under a state of calamity, an automatic price control is implemented as a preventive measure to avoid chaos that may result from overpricing of goods such as processed milk, canned goods, coffee, laundry soap, detergent, candles, bread, and salt.

Angeles said a state of calamity lasts for 60 days unless lifted sooner either by local officials or the President.
