No Napoles transfer tonight - PNP spokesman

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - The transfer of alleged pork barrel scam mastermind Janet Lim-Napoles will not happen on Friday night, a police spokesperson said.

Senior Superintendent Reuben Theodor Sindac, Philippine National Police spokesman, said that there will be "no action tonight" when informed of the Makati City Regional Trial Court's order to transfer Napoles from the Makati City Jail (MCJ) to Fort Sto. Domingo in Sta. Rosa, Laguna.

Makati RTC Branch 150 Judge Elmo Alameda earlier granted Napoles' petition to be transferred from the MCJ to any detention facility.

During the hearing on the petition, acting MCJ warden Chief Inspector Fermin Enriquez said that he could not guarantee the safety of Napoles.

Alameda ordered the transfer to Fort Sto. Domingo, based on the recommendation of Criminal Investigation and Detection Group-National Capital Region director, Senior Superintendent Roberto Fajardo.

During the hearing, Fajardo suggested to the court that Fort Sto Domingo could better house Napoles as it was also the former detention place of Moro National Libation Front chief Nur Misuari and now Senator Gringo Honasan.

Fajardo said that aside from having a kilometer-long perimeter fence, the detention facility at Fort Sto. Domingo is also inside the SAF training school. He told the court that the SAF or police commandos are among the augmentation forces sent by the PNP to secure Napoles at the MCJ.

The other facilities mentioned during the hearing were Camp Crame, the national headquarters of the Philippine National Police where Napoles was initially brought after her surrender on Wednesday night and Camp Bagong Diwa in Taguig City. with Cecille Suerte Felipe
