OFWs in Egypt, Syria urged to return home
MANILA, Philippines - Marinduque Rep. Regina Reyes has urged overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) in Egypt and Syria to just go home and put up a business in the Philippines to ensure their safety.
In a statement, Reyes said the government is offering good programs and help to returning OFWs, including livelihood packages, and even giving capital so they can start a small business.
Reyes said the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration provides capital to returning OFWs from Egypt and Syria who want to become entrepreneurs, while the Department of Labor and Employment gives free seminars on different kinds of businesses.
She also reiterated her call to OFWs to take advantage of the mandatory evacuation being carried out by the Department of Foreign Affairs for OFWs who are presently in Egypt and Syria.
