BUTUAN CITY, Philippines – Another college student committed suicide in this city Sunday, the third in as many months.
Jofer Adrian Alcantara Mondalo, 19, of the Holy Child Colleges, was found hanging in his boarding house in Guingona Subdivision.
Mondalo’s boardmates told investigators that they had been looking for him since Saturday.
The victim’s father Romeo, a municipal councilor from Surigao del Sur, told The STAR that he agreed with the decision of the authorities to have his son’s body autopsied.
In July, a college student hanged himself after learning that his parents could no longer afford to finance his studies.
In June, Imelda Gelo Egmilan, a first year student of the Caraga State University, was found hanging in her boarding house in Barangay Ampa-yon.
