Dams remain critical; La Mesa, Magat, Ipo overflowing

MANILA, Philippines - Major Luzon reservoirs La Mesa, Magat and Ipo continued to overflow Thursday morning with incessant rains pouring in for almost six days.

La Mesa dam already breached its spilling level of 80.15 meters mid-Tuesday, flowing to the Tullahan River. Waters kicked into neighboring cities of Quezon City, Valenzuela, Malabon and Caloocan City.

Gates of the Magat Dam in Isabela, meanwhile, stopped releasing water as of Wednesday midnight, but it continues to swell in latest updates of the PAGASA-Flood Forecasting and Warning Section.

Two gates of overflowing Ipo Dam in Norzagaray, Bulacan were also slightly opened andgradually releases water.
