Isabela mayor posts bail for rape

TUGUEGARAO CITY , Philippines   â€“ The mayor of Cordon town in Isabela has posted a P200,000 bail for his temporary liberty after a woman filed charges of rape and child abuse against him.

Mayor Laurencio Zuniega posted  bail after the Santiago City court issued a warrant for his arrest early this month.

State prosecutor Genalyn Gelacio found probable cause for the charges filed by the complainant who claimed she was only 14 years old when Zuniega assaulted her.

Zuniega has denied the charges and accused his political rivals of instigating the complainant.
