LAOAG CITY , Philippines – The mayor of Adams town in Ilocos Norte who was charged for attempted rape by a female municipal employee has posted P120,000 bail for his temporary liberty, authorities said.
Mayor Eric Bawingan, who was re-elected for his third term, was earlier ordered arrested by Laoag City Regional Trial Court Judge Francisco Quilala.
Bawingan has denied the charge, saying his accuser was only out to destroy his reputation.
