Butuan PPA office fired at
BUTUAN CITY, Philippines – Unidentified gunmen opened fire at the office of the Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) on San Francisco street here, killing no one the other day.
Security guard Gil Jamito told The STAR the attack occurred at about 2:20 p.m. and left the glass window of the receiving area shattered.
Jamito said he heard four gunshots causing him to take cover. He expressed belief the gunfires came from the other side of the Agusan River, which is about 50 meters away from the PPA office.
Senior Superintendent Nerio Bermudo, city police director, confirmed the incident but dismissed it as an isolated incident or a case of stray bullets.
He said his men were still investigating the incident.
