Death toll in LPA rains, flooding rises to 11
MANILA, Philippines - Three more people, including a baby, have been confirmed killed due to floods caused by heavy rains from July until August, the government's disaster response agency reported Saturday.
The three fatalities were identified as Baby Malumpil, Faty Malumpil and two-year-old Emran Guiamin, residents of Mother Kabuntalan, Maguindanao.
The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said that the three latest fatalities died from drowning.
Eight more people were earlier confirmed killed by landslides and floods in Zamboanga City, Zamboanga del Norte Cebu, Iloilo and Aklan provinces.

The NDRRMC said that 11 fatalities were recorded in during "several weather disturbances" within the month of July and August.
One person has been reported missing in Zamboanga del Norte and 21 more were injured in flooding, landslide and wave surges in Sarangani Province, South Cotabato, Laguna and Zamboanga City.
As of August 9, a total of half a million people have been affected by the weather disturbances, including storms and low pressure areas.
The NDRRMC, meanwhile, remains on alert even as Tropical Storm "Labuyo" remains weak and too far to affect any part of the country.
