Dennis Carcamo - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - The Philippine National Police reported on Friday that its leadership has sacked 104 erring policemen for various offenses during the past six months.

The PNP also said that it has meted to 428 others disciplinary sanctions for administrative offenses and irregularities.

The sanctions include demotion in rank, suspension, forfeiture of salary, reprimand, restriction to quarters, and withholding of privileges.

Records of the Directorate for Personnel and Records Management from January 1, 2013 to June 30, 2013 revealed that the 104 dismissed personnel were involved in cases ranging from grave misconduct, serious irregularities, and other criminal activities.

At present, only 797 pending cases are awaiting resolution in the summary hearing boards, mostly carry-over or cases from the previous years; and, 1,263 were already resolved.

All 2,060 cases stemmed from complaints which were all investigated and acted upon at the different levels of command, some of the respondents were meted non-disciplinary sanctions while others were either exonerated or their cases dismissed, the PNP said.
