Raffy Viray - The Philippine Star

Orion, Bataan, Philippines – A manager of one of the province’s water districts was killed, while her husband was wounded in an attack staged by two motorcycle-riding gunmen in Barangay Balagtas Sunday night.

Cecilia Tuazon of the Orion Water District (ORIWAD) was declared dead on arrival at the St. Michael Hospital due to a gunshot wound in the head.

Her husband, Emmanuel, 58, suffered three gunshot wounds in the chest and hands. He is recovering at the Isaac-Catalina Medical Center  in Balanga City as of press time.

Officer on case Police Officer 3 Fremelson Pinmiliw told The STAR that the couple was about to park their Kia van in front of their house at the Mel-Luz Subdivision when the gunmen shot at them at about 8:30 p.m.

Mayor Antonio Raymundo told The STAR that the couple, who he met in church minutes before the shooting, had told him about the death threats they allegedly received from unidentified persons.

Investigators believe the killing may be connected with the water district’s operations.
