Village chief nabbed in Iloilo drug den raid

ILOILO CITY , Philippines   â€“ A barangay chief, along with two of his watchmen (tanod), was arrested in a raid on a suspected drug den in the Pototan town proper Wednesday night, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Region 6 said yesterday.

PDEA agents collared Bram Pimen-tel, 44, head of Guinacas village; Pastor Pastolero, 45, the chief tanod; and one of his men, Nestor Baging, 44.

Lawyer Ronnie Delicana, PDEA regional director, said the three were not the subject of the raid but Pastolero’s brother Rodolfo, owner of the house which served as a drug den, who managed to escape.

The PDEA earlier had arrested another barangay head, Diaster Genoves, 34, of Pili, Panay, and a companion, Arturo Sarosa, 31, owner of a drug den, in a drug buy-bust in Barangay Punta Tabuc, Roxas City.
