PBA sportscaster to sue ex-BF for allegedly beating her up

MANILA, Philippines - A female sportscaster of the Philippine Basketball Association will file a case against her former boyfriend on Tuesday for allegedly beating her up in his house in Quezon City, partylist groups announced.

Sel Guevarra, also a disc jockey for an FM radio station, will be escorted by non-government organizations Akap Bata partylist and Mariposa Network, an anti-Violence Against Women group, at the Quezon City Prosecutor's Office.

Guevarra is expected to arrive around 1 p.m. at the Quezon City Hall of Justice to file a case for  violation of RA 9262 or Violence Against Women and Children Act against former boyfriend Robert Spakowski.

Nica Castillo of Mariposa Network said that based on Guevarra's statements, the couple had an argument over the sportscaster's photo post on social media and eventually ended the relationship.

Castillo said that according to Guevarra, Spakowski texter her last July 20 at 2 a.m. She said that the sportscaster immediately went to Spakowski's residence in New Manila, Quezon City thinking that they would be getting back together.

However, when she was already inside the house and was entering her former boyfriend's room, Spakowski allegedly choked her and dragged her across the room.

Guevarra was able to escape from Spakowski's stranglehold with the help of the suspect's maids.

Castillo said that Guevarra sustained bruises all over her body and fractured fingers because of the incident.
