‘Model’ Mindoro cop arrested in drug buy-bust

CALAPAN CITY, Philippines – An outstanding police officer in Oriental Mindoro was arrested by agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) in Naujan town the other night.

Senior Police Officer 2 Gaudencio Callo and his companion identified as Lauro Gumapac were collared after they reportedly sold a plastic sachet containing shabu to an undercover agent of the PDEA inside a police community precinct in Barangay Pinagsabangan.

Reports said Callo was an awardee of the Country’s Outstanding Policemen in Service  (COPS) in 2009, while Gumapac was arrested in 2012 for drug possession, and was out on bail.

The anti-drug operations was led by PDEA-Mimaropa (Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Palawan) director Bryan Babang.

Callo and Gumapac  are currently detained at the PDEA detention  cell in this city. Charges for illegal sale and possession of drugs  were set to be filed against them.
