5.2 magnitude quake jolts North Cotabato; aftershocks possible
MANILA, Philippines - A 5.2 magnitude earthquake hit North Cotabato on Monday morning, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) reported.
In its bulletin, Phivolcs said the quake was recorded approximately seven kilometers off Carmen, North Cotabato at 9:28 a.m. It was tectonic in origin.
The agency said the quake was felt in the towns of Carmen (Intensity V), Kabacan and Matalam (Intensity IV) in North Cotabato; Tagum City and Davao del Norte (Intensity III); and in the cities of Kidapawan and Koronadal (Intensity II) in South Cotabato.
Phivolcs said aftershocks are possible but so far, no damage from the quake has been expected.
