ZAMBOANGA CITY - Police rescued a two-year-old boy and captured three kidnappers in an operation late Thursday afternoon in the west coast village of this city, police official said Friday.
Acting city police director Senior Superintendent Jose Chiquito Malayo identified the arrested suspects as Ryan Asali, Alvin Saudani of this city, and a certain Buddy.
Malayo said that the boy was held by the three suspects at gunpoint in the presence of his mother from their residence in Barangay Tumaga on Thursday morning.
As the three suspects escaped, policeman set up operations around the city until they caught up with the suspects at Barangay Recodo.
The boy was immediately returned his mother while the suspects were detained at the Police Station 7 in Barangay Sta. Maria. Charges of kidnapping have been filed against the three suspects.
Mayor Ma. Isabel Climaco-Salazar commended the police for its quick response that led to the rescue of the boy and the arrest of his kidnappers.
"The boy was rescued because of the police mobilization and visibility. This is the good news that is happening to the police in Zamboanga," Salazar said.
