Davao City transport leader gunned down

DAVAO CITY, Philippines – An officer of a transport cooperative was gunned down in front of his house here Monday morning, police said.

The victim, Antonio Ortega Petalcorin, 56, said to be the treasurer of the Metro Davao Transport Cooperative, was about to leave his house in Matina Aplaya when a motorcycle-riding man shot him several times, police said.

Authorities were still digging deeper into the killing of Petalcorin, who reportedly had had a spat with an official of the Land Transportation Office.
