MANILA, Philippines - Four mild earthquakes were felt in some parts of Benguet and Mindanao provinces early yesterday morning.
The quakes of magnitudes 4.9, 3.1, 3.5 and three occurred at 12:49 a.m., 6:58 a.m., 8:50 a.m., and 9:12 a.m., respectively, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
The epicenter of the magnitude 4.9 quake was traced four kilometers northeast of Baguio City, Benguet. It was felt at Intensity 4 in Baguio City and La Trinidad, and Intensity 3 in Sablan, Benguet.
The second tremor was located eight kilometers northeast of Carmen town in North Cotabato, where it was felt at Intensity 3.
The epicenter of the magnitude 3.5 quake was traced 60 kilometers northeast of Tandag, Surigao del Sur and was felt at Intensity 3 in Tandag and Intensity 2 in Claver, Surigao del Norte, and Cagwait and Cortes towns in Surigao del Sur.
The magnitude three quake was located five kilometers southwest of La Trinidad where it was recorded at Intensity 3.
Phivolcs said no damage or aftershocks were expected from the quakes. – With Artemio Dumlao
