Owners of guns seized from 4 Sinos charged
BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya , Philippines – Four more suspects are facing charges of illegal possession of firearms, which the Ilocos Norte police earlier had filed against four Chinese nationals who yielded five firearms last month.
The four new suspects, identified as Harry Domingo, Lorenzo Fajardo, Enrique Alvarez and Dennis Co, are now in police custody.
The high-powered firearms which the police confiscated from the four Chinese were found to be under their names.
The four Chinese – Lei Guang, Dang Hoi Yin, Lui Xin Fen and Dennis Min Co – were arraigned earlier this month for gun charges before the Regional Trial Court Branch 19 in Bangui, Ilocos Norte.
They were apprehended after their vehicle yielded three MP5 submachine guns, a 40-caliber rifle and a 9-mm Glock pistol following a brief chase along the national highway in Pasuquin town last May 28.
Superintendent Jeffrey Gorospe, Ilocos Norte police spokesman, said eight grenades and an improvised explosive were also seized from them. – Charlie Lagasca, Raymund Catindig, Teddy Molina
