Cebu City radio commentator shot
CEBU CITY, Philippines – A radio commentator was shot and wounded at the parking area of a shopping mall in Barangay Mabolo here last Thursday afternoon, police said.
Radioman Apolinario Arigo, 48, of dyDD Bantay Radyo, was hit in the left buttock, with the bullet exiting through his left thigh.
Arigo had just gone to the shopping mall and was on his way to board his Ford Escapade when a man approached him from behind and shot him once.
The gunman, who was wearing a brown jacket, fled, while Arigo managed to ride a taxi and brought himself to the Perpetual Soccour Hospital.
Police found an empty .45-caliber shell at the crime scene.
Arigo is now in stable condition at the hospital, police said.
Police said the attack on Arigo could be job-related, adding that his commentaries usually touched on politicians and that he earlier had received threats to his life.
