Provincial prosecutor slain in Batangas

MANILA, Philippines - Unidentified gunmen killed a provincial prosecutor in an ambush in San Luis town in Batangas province on Thursday morning.

Senior Inspector Joel Laraya, spokesperson of the Batangas provincial police office, identified the fatality as Atty. Alex Sandoval, 40.

Laraya said Sandoval was driving his Mitsubishi adventure when gunmen on board a blue motorcycle and a white sedan with plate numbers TDD 852 fired at him. The ambush took place in Barangay Muzon at around 11:30 a.m.

The government lawyer died on the spot.

Probers are investigating the killing.
