Quezon mishap leaves 2 dead

CALAUAG, Quezon, Philippines – Two persons were killed while another was injured when the truck they were riding hit a row of coconut trees and turned turtle in Calauag, Quezon province before dawn yesterday.

Truck driver Emmanuel Marquez, 35, and Ligaya Arida, 48, died on the spot while helper Teodorico Anabo, 57, was taken to the St. Peter’s General Hospital for treatment. 

Senior Superintendent Dionardo Carlos, acting chief of the Quezon provincial police, said the driver apparently lost control of the wheel while cruising the Maharlika Highway in Barangay Lungib at about 2 a.m.

Senior Police Officer 1 Victor Beso of the Calauag police said the Isuzu trailer truck was set to deliver cement in Cavite when the accident happened. – Cecille Suerte Felipe, Michelle Zoleta, Ed Amoroso
