LA TRINIDAD, Benguet, Philippines – Authorities are eyeing human error as the reason for a vehicle’s fall from a cliff in Buguias town, which left 13 persons dead last Saturday.
Senior Superintendent Davy Limmong, spokesperson for the Cordillera police, said they are looking at the possibility that the driver overshot the road.
The Ford Fiera was smashed into pieces after it plunged into a ravine 80 meters from the cliff. Ten passengers died on the spot, while three others died while being rushed to or treated in a hospital.
The families of the victims said they would no longer file charges against Ambrosio Menzi, the jeepney driver, who was also injured in the incident.
The victims, who were neighbors, were on their way home from a victory party of re-elected Buguias Mayor Melchor Diclas when the incident happened.
