Bacolod lawmaker faces breach of contract raps
BACOLOD CITY, Philippines – Outgoing Bacolod Rep. Anthony Rolando Golez Jr. is facing charges of breach of contract for allegedly making as campaign headquarters the residential house that he rented.
Golez, former spokesperson for former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, and his father, Rolando Golez Sr., reportedly rented the house of spouses Jose Luis and Jennifer Kilayko in Mountainview Subdivision, Barangay Mandalagan in October last year.
The owners said they found out last January that the house had been turned into a campaign headquarters.
The Kilaykos said on May 30, they found that their house which the Golezes rented was padlocked.
The complainants filed the charges against the congressman and his father before the Bacolod Police Station 8.
The Kilaykos said the Golezes misused their residence, noting that two air-conditioning units and two beds were damaged.
The STAR tried but failed to reach the lawmaker for comment. His father is reportedly out of the country.
Golez lost bid for a fresh mandate to incumbent Bacolod Mayor Evelio Leonardia.
