Gov't worker, brother nabbed over drugs in Davao

Dennis Carcamo - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines -- A local government employee and his brother were arrested by Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency operatives during a buy-bust operation that led to the discovery of a drug den in Davao del Norte, PDEA disclosed Thursday.

PDEA director general Arturo Cacdac Jr. said Rio Alcordo, 36 , a regular employee in the local government unit of Panabo City; and his brother, Reed, 31, a painter, were nabbed in a sting operation.

Reports showed that last June 3 around 5:30 a.m., an agent of PDEA Regional Office 11 who acted as buyer transacted with the Alcordo brothers to purchase a sachet of methamphetamine hydrochloride, or shabu.

They agreed to meet at the brothers’ residence doubling as a drug den in Barangay Sto. Niño.

After the transaction was consummated, anti-narcotics agents rushed to the scene and arrested the brothers.

When agents searched the house, five empty sachets with shabu residue and assorted drug paraphernalia were recovered inside.

The Alcordos, who are temporarily detained at Davao City police station, are now facing various drug charges.
