Airlines cancel flights from Davao

DAVAO CITY, Philippines -- Flights from this city were delayed or cancelled since last night due to an ongoing probe on an aircraft that skid the runway on Sunday.

Six flights to Manila and other provinces have been "cancelled" by Gokongwei-led Cebu Pacific on Monday morning, according to the electronic bulletin board in the airport.

Flag carrier Philippine Airlines (PAL), meanwhile, will not push through with two flights to Manila today.

Budget carrier Zest Air, on the other hand, have two Davao-Manila flights "delayed" since last night.

Passengers were not advised as to when flights from Francisco Bangoy International Airport-- the Davao gateway-- will resume. Carriers have offered either a refund or rebooking as options.

Airport operations were halted last night after Cebu Pacific flight 5J971 from Manila missed the runway upon landing due to thunderstorms last night. All 165 passengers were accounted for.

The following Cebu Pacific flights have been terminated: 5J962 and 5J964 to Manila (6:20 a.m. and 7:45 a.m.); 5J796 to Butuan (7:45 a.m.); 5J348 to Iloilo (7:45 a.m.); and 5J594 and 5J596 to Cebu (8:20 a.m. and 10:05 a.m.)

PAL, likewise, cancelled PR810 and PR812 bound for Manila at 6:30 a.m. and 9:10 a.m., respectively. "Delayed" flights were PR5808 and PR814 leaving 5 a.m. and 11:40 a.m. to the capital.

Zest Air said Z2393, supposed to fly 9:15 p.m. on Sunday,  was "delayed" as well as that of Z2391, at 6:45 a.m. on Monday.
