Volunteers join Sarangani Bay cleanup

GUMASA, Sarangani, Philippines  â€“ It was cleanup time after the merriment of the recent Sarangani Bay Festival, and the regional office of the Department of Tourism, Sarangani provincial government and Sagittarius Mines Inc. (SMI) were up to the task.

At least 168 volunteers from SMI, Barangay Gumasa, the provincial government and local media collected 67 sacks of garbage, plastic containers, bottles and food canisters.

SMI external communication manager John Arnaldo said SMI prioritizes projects like the cleanup which underscores the company’s sustainable development values in preserving the environment and the responsible use of the region’s natural resources.
