P2.3-B Star Tollway expansion starts

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Following the receipt of the notice to proceed from the Department of Public Works and Highways early this month, the Star Infrastructure Development Corp. (SIDC), concessionaire of Star Tollway in Batangas, started to mobilize the construction of additional two lanes between Batangas City and Lipa City.

The construction of the new lanes, which will serve northbound motorists coming from Batangas City, will not adversely affect the flow of traffic on the existing two-lane road that now serves both northbound and southbound vehicles.

To ensure the smooth and safe travel of its motoring patrons, the Star Tollway Corp. will deploy two patrol vehicles and adequate number of traffic personnel at the work site round-the-clock.

The P2.3-billion road expansion project is expected to be completed in less than 24 months, during which pavement repair and asphalt overlay will be done on the 22-kilometer, four-lane Sto. Tomas-Lipa section of the expressway.

To further improve the Star Tollway facilities, fiber optic cables, CCTV cameras and additional streetlights will be installed.
