MANILA, Philippines - A magnitude 4.8 earthquake jolted the Eastern Samar yesterday afternoon, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
The quake was reportedly felt in several towns in the province such as in San Policarpio, Intensity 3; Oras, Can-avid, Dolores, Sulat and Taft, Intensity 2; and Intensity 1 in San Julian.
The earthquake, which was tectonic in origin, reportedly took place at 1:17 p.m. Its epicenter was at 78 northeast of San Policarpio.
As of press time, the Phivolcs was not expecting any damage or aftershocks as a result of the tremor.
