Legazpi City chief police prober killed in hit-and-run

LEGAZPI CITY, Philippines – This city’s chief police investigator was killed when a 10-wheeler delivery truck bumped his motorcycle and ran over him in Barangay Gogon here early yesterday morning.

Senior Inspector Art Gomez, spokesman of the Albay police, said checkpoints were set up to corner the truck driver who sped away after hitting SPO3 Salvador Buen, 44, who was declared dead on arrival at the Bicol Regional Training and Teaching Hospital here.

Buen’s wife Jenny said her husband woke up early yesterday to finish a report that he was about to bring to his office.

“He rode his motorcycle to bring the report to his office. Later we were just told that he figured in an accident and was already dead,” she told The STAR at the funeral parlor where her husband’s body was brought for autopsy.
