CAFGU personnel stabs drinking buddy to death

COTABATO CITY, Philippines  --- A drunk militiaman stabbed dead a lesbian in Antipas town in North Cotabato Tuesday, police said.

Inspector Felix Fornan, chief of the Antipas municipal police, said the fatality, Jerelyn Ligo, died of multiple stab wounds while being treated by doctors at the municipal hospital. 

Fornan said the militiaman who stabbed Ligo to death, Arnel Pacino, a member of the Citizens Armed Forces Geographical Unit, escaped to a nearby farm, eluding responding barangay officials.

Ligo and Pacino were drinking liquor  in a friend’s house in Barangay Malangag in Antipas when they were overheard shouting invectives at each other.

Neighbors saw Pacino pull out a knife from his waist and repeatedly stabbed Ligo, until she fell.

Pacino immediately ran away, leaving the victim sprawled on the floor.

Col. Dickson Hermoso, spokesman of the Army’s 6th Infantry Division, said the 38th Infantry Battalion, which has jurisdiction over CAFGU units in Central Mindanao, is now helping the Antipas municipal police locate Pacino’s whereabouts.

Hermoso said Pacino will be discharged from the CAFGU unit where he belongs for misbehavior.  - John Unson
