DOJ prosecutors revisit Atimonan ‘rubout’ site

Edu Punay - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - The Department of Justice (DOJ) yesterday conducted another ocular inspection of the site in Atimonan, Quezon where alleged jueteng operator Vic Siman and 12 others were killed in a joint police and military operation last Jan. 6.

This time, the inspection was part of the preliminary investigation into multiple murder charges filed against Superintendent Hansel Marantan and other officers.

The DOJ earlier had conducted a re-enactment of the shooting incident last Jan. 17 as part of the National Bureau of Investigation’s fact-finding probe with the help of three eyewitnesses, which led to the filing of the complaint against Marantan and Chief Superintendent James Andres Melad, former Region 4-A police director, before the DOJ.
