Abu Sayyaf extortionist killed in Sulu

ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines – Government security forces shot dead a suspected extortionist believed linked to the Abu Sayyaf and wounded another in Sulu last Saturday.

Col. Jose Joriel Cenabre, commander of the Joint Task Force Sulu, a team from the Jolo Internal Defense Force (JIDF) caught the suspects mulcting from a restaurant owner in Jolo.

Cenabre said a brief exchanged of fire between the suspects and the government forces left one of the extortionists dead and the other injured.The wounded suspect was detained at the Jolo municipal police after he was given medical treatment.
