Negros bets told to show poll spendings
BACOLOD CITY, Philippines – Elections officials in Negros Occidental yesterday reminded all candidates in the May 2013 elections to submit their statement on contributions and expenditures.
Comelec provincial elections supervisor Wil Arceño reminded candidates of the deadline for the submission of the statement on June 12.
The poll body requires both losing and winning candidates to file their statements of contributions and expenses within 30 days after the elections.
The statement of contributions and expenses serves as basis for the Comelec to determine whether a candidate or a party exceeded the spending limit.
Arceño said all radio and television stations and newspaper companies are also required to submit to the Comelec all contracts they entered into with candidates.
Failure to file the statement will prevent a winning candidate from assuming the post.
Administrative charges punishable by a fine ranging from P1,000 to P30,000 await violators.
