3 men caught selling fake Uratex beds

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Three men were caught allegedly selling fake beds bearing the name of a known bed brand in Rizal recently.

According to Ma. Cecil Cumpas, she bought a fake Uratex bed from the three suspects, identified as Marvin Santos, Erwin Sipil and Romeo Duavit, who all hail from Cabanatuan City, last year.

According to Cumpas, the bed broke after three days. Just recently, she again saw the group in her area, prompting her to call Uratex, which, in turn, immediately took action.

Together with law enforcement authorities, they all waited for the return of the suspects. As expected, the three returned and were immediately arrested.

The three suspects had been selling fake Uratex beds in many parts of Metro Manila for more than five years. They, however, denied the allegation, claiming they were not selling fake Uratex beds because their products were all well-made and durable.

Police said the three suspects used the brand name Uratex in selling their fake merchandise so they could sell them quickly and at a much lower price.

Seized from them were 23 allegedly fake Uratex beds in a six-wheeler closed van.

The three suspects are now detained at the San Mateo, Rizal police station. teo, Rizal police station.
