Campaigner of Ilocos poll winner shot dead

PIDDIG, Ilocos Norte, Philippines – A campaign coordinator of this town’s newly elected vice mayor was gunned down in Barangay Loing here on Friday, police said.

The victim, Michael Padaca, 37, supported and helped campaign for vice mayor-elect Gener Aquino, police said.  

Probers were still investigating the killing but Padaca’s wife believes that it was politically motivated. – Teddy Molina, Charlie Lagasca, Raymund Catindig
