Vizcaya celebrates 174th founding anniversary today

BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya, Philippines – It will be a special non-working holiday here today for both the government and private sectors as this landlocked province, the threshold to the Cagayan Valley region, marks its 174th founding anniversary.

Today is also the culmination of the weeklong Grand Ammungan Festival, which kicked off last May 18 with an agro-industrial trade fair. “Ammungan” is an Iluko word for coming or meeting together.

The province’s various ethnic tribes will converge today at the Clisoc open field where the annual grand parade of floats and cultural street dancing take center stage.
