Robbery gang leader, 3 cohorts nabbed in Laguna

Ed Amoroso - The Philippine Star

LAGUNA, Philippines – Authorities arrested yesterday the suspected leader and three members of a Cagayan de Oro City-based robbery syndicate believed behind the attack on a businessman in Bulacan on Tuesday.

Senior Superintendent Pascual Muñoz, Laguna police director, said alleged gang leader Pepito Lago Sr. and his three henchmen, Harry Maasin, William Nagita and Jayua Lagoy, all of Causuagan, Cagayan de Oro City, were arrested in Barangay  Banaybanay, Cabuyao City following two-day police operations.

Muñoz said the syndicate operates like the Ozamiz robbery gang that has been tagged in break-ins in banks, pawnshops and other commercial establishments in Central Luzon and Metro Manila.

Police have yet to determine if the four suspects have pending arrest warrants in Region 10.

Muñoz said the group fled Misamis Oriental and hid in Calabarzon after the local police launched a manhunt against them.
