TAYABAS, Quezon, Philippines – The mayor of Jomalig town, his wife and son and four others sustained injuries in a collision of a passenger jeepney and a Honda Civic here Tuesday night, police said.
The brakes of the Tayabas-bound passenger jeepney malfunctioned, causing the vehicle to go to the opposite lane where it rammed the Honda Civic bearing Mayor Rodelo Torres Tena, 57, his wife Gloria, 53, and son Jeremiah, 16. The Tenas were rushed to the Mt. Carmel General Hospital.
The four other injured were passengers of the jeepney whose driver, Joselito Jacela Natay, 46, is facing charges of reckless imprudence resulting in multiple physical injuries and damage to property. – Michelle Zoleta, Ed Amoroso
