Vice gov’s votes highest in Bulacan history
Malolos City, Philippines – Former movie actor and re-elected Bulacan Vice Gov. Daniel Fernando garnered the highest number of votes for an individual candidate in the history of the province.
Four other celebrity-turned-politicians in the province lost in the elections: comedian Long Mejia, actor Alex Castro, and singers Imelda Papin and Rey Valera.
Provincial election supervisor Elmo Duque said more than half of the 1,497,873 registered voters participated in Monday’s polls.
Fernando’s certificate of canvass and proclamation showed he got a total of 853,558 votes. The number is higher than the more than 800,000 earned by re-elected Gov. Wilhelmino Alvarado who ran unopposed, while Fernando defeated two other candidates.
Duque said Fernando’s votes are the highest in the history of Bulacan.
