MMDA chief denies family building dynasty in Cavite
MANILA, Philippines - Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) Chairman Francis Tolentino denied that his family is building a political dynasty in Cavite following the victory in the congressional race of his brother and his sister-in-law as mayor of Tagaytay City.
Tolentino said the victory of his brother Abraham and his wife, Agnes, shows that the people of Cavite are looking for leaders who can make change. The couple defeated the Remullas.
Abraham, of the Liberal Party, served as mayor of Tagaytay before winning as representative of the province’s seventh district, trouncing Gilbert Remulla, of the Nacionalista Party.
Abraham garnered 18,179 votes while Remulla got 10,548 votes.
Agnes, of LP, got 16,711 votes defeating Boying Remulla, of the NP, who got 12,520. She replaced her husband as mayor of Tagaytay City.
Aside from Tagaytay, the seventh district covers the towns of Alfonso, General Emilio Aguinaldo, Magallanes, Maragondon, Mendez, Naic and Ternate.
