Jalosjos clan suffers slump in Zambo Sibugay

ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines – The clan of former congressman Romeo Jalosjos almost took a sweep in historic Dapitan City but was suffering a slump in the Zamboanga Peninsula based on the latest canvassing of election results.

Jalosjos sister Nene (United Nationalist Alliance) was proclaimed Dapitan City mayor, trouncing the incumbent mayor, Agapito Cardino, with almost all her party mates taking the local posts. Canvassing of votes for the vice mayoral race was ongoing as of press time.

Jalosjos’ son and incumbent Zamboanga Sibugay Gov. Rommel Jalosjos was leading with a slim margin over his rival, Wilter Palma.

Based on yesterday’s canvassing, Gov. Jalosjos got 70,503 while Palma was closing in with 69,762 votes.

The governor’s brother, first district Rep. Romeo Jalosjos Jr., was losing the race with 36,277 votes against Ann Hofer (Liberal Party), who got 50,345 votes.

Belma Cabilao, an ally of the Jalosjos family, continued to stay in the lead in the second district congressional race against Wilter Palma II.

In the third district, incumbent Rep. Cesar Jalosjos was trailing Berto Uy (LP), husband of incumbent Dipolog City Mayor Evelyn Tang Uy, 71,315 votes versus 89,980 votes.
