Police seize bomb from resort in Zamboanga Sibugay
ZAMBOANGA City, Philippines - Police recovered an improvised bomb planted in a resort in Buug town, Zamboanga Sibugay, an official said Wednesday.
Chief Inspector Ariel Huesca, spokesman of the Police Regional Office 9 (PRO), said the bomb concealed in a plastic gallon was planted in front of the Inland Resort along Magsaysay Street at Purok 24, Barangay Poblacion at around 9 a.m. Tuesday.
The security personnel of the resort immediately moved the suspicious gallon to the garbage area and alerted the police.
Responding bomb disposal teams of the police and the military extracted the bomb from the garbage area and defused it.
Huesca said the bomb was composed of an improvised time fuse, a non-electric blasting cap, common nails as fragmentation shrapnel, and ammonium nitrate fuel oil.
Police investigators have yet to determine which group was responsible for the planting of the bomb.
