MANILA, Philippines - Presidential sister Kris Aquino has endorsed Mylene Garcia-Albano, who is seeking her second term as representative of Davao City’s second district.
She made the endorsement when she attended a local political rally organized by former mayor and incumbent Vice Mayor Rodrigo Duterte, who wants to reclaim the mayoral post.
A lawyer, Garcia-Albano is part of the Duterte ticket. She is the wife of Isabela Vice Gov. Rodolfo Albano III, a close friend and former House colleague of President Aquino.
She was the chief of staff of Interior and Local Government Secretary Mar Roxas when he was a senator. She also once served as undersecretary of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources.
A recent survey conducted by a local university showed that Garcia-Albano and two other incumbents – Karlo Nograles of the first district and Isidro Ungab of the third district – were ahead of their opponents.
Duterte, who is seeking to replace his daughter Sara, the incumbent mayor, and his councilor-son Paulo, his vice mayoral teammate, are running unopposed.
