Mayoral bet’s supporter killed in Ilocos Norte

LAOAG CITY, Philippines – A supporter of a mayoral candidate in Pagudpud, Ilocos Norte was killed in a clash with a group that reportedly belonged to another mayoral bet yesterday afternoon.

The fatality, identified only as “Asuncion,” was declared dead on arrival at the Bangui District Hospital. Asuncion was a supporter of Mayor Matilde Sales.

Several others were reported injured in the incident. One of them was identified as Ryan Calventas, driver of a van used by Asuncion’s group.

Superintendent Jeffrey Gorospe, spokesman of the Ilocos Norte police, confirmed the incident but refused to give details. – Teddy Molina, Raymund Catindig
