Gun-toting mayoral bet posts bail

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Philippines   â€“ The vice mayor of Sta. Maria town in Isabela is now out of jail after posting P92,000 bail for poking a gun at a rival’s supporter who had refused to shake his hand during a campaign sortie.

Vice Mayor Gilbert Masigan, who is gunning for the Sta. Maria mayorship, is facing charges of illegal possession of firearm and violation of the election gun ban before the Regional Trial Court Branch 22 in Cabagan town.

Police arrested Masigan after he poked a .45-caliber pistol at Jerry Maquinad who refused his handshake while campaigning in Barangay Bangad.
