Ma, daughter fall in Negros Occidental drug bust

MANILA, Philippines - Operatives of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency have arrested a woman and her daughter in a sting operation in Negros Occidental, the PDEA said on Friday.

PDEA director general Arturo Cacdac Jr. said  Marlyn Tamayo Cordova, 54; and her daughter, Jerlyn Cordova Pongan, 32; both of Sto. Nino, Purok Sigay, Barangay 2, Bacolod City, Negros Occidental were nabbed last Apr. 29 in a buy-bust operation.

Reports showed that around 4:30 p.m., authorities conducted the entrapment operation which resulted in the confiscation of 18 pieces of elongated heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride or shabu from the suspects.

The seized illegal drug, which weighed about 3.40 grams, was brought to the PDEA regional offfice 6 forensic laboratory for chemical examination.
The suspects are temporarily detained at a facility n Bacolod City, while illegal drug raps are being prepared for filing in court against them. - Dennis Carcamo
